The Blackhawk Island Fishing wharf is a fully ADA accessible floating platform Located on the Rock River near the mouth of the River and lake Koshkonong.  The Wharf provides excellent access for walleye, catfish, whitebass, and northern Pike fishing.  Picnic Tables, trash cans, and a seasonal restroom is available. 

The wharf was installed in 2016 with funded through the Sport Fish Restoration Program and Fishing Has No Boundaries.  Bill Kohls, a former highschool teacher and advocate for increasing ADA accessibility for fishing, helped bring this resource to Jefferson County. Park, located in the North Shore area of Lake Koshkonong on Lamp Road, was donated to the Town of Sumner in 1956 by Edward and May Altpeter for the sum of $1 for the purpose of creating a playground area for local residents.  In 1977 the Town of Sumner gave the property to Jefferson County to be managed as part of the Jefferson County Park System.  Today the park has ample open space, a playground, and picnic tables for visitors to picnic and enjoy the area.
